The Královské Vinohrady University Hospital (KVUH) has launched the ROSE project, which aims to create a modern and inspiring environment for scientific research and development. The project will be implemented from July 2025 to June 2029 and is funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS) under the Jan Amos Komenský Operational Program, reg. no.: CZ.02.01.01/00/23_026/0011373.
As a research organization (RO), Královské Vinohrady UH is working to improve the working conditions of its researchers. As evidence of its commitment, it has pledged to adhere to the principles set forth in the European Charter for Researchers, specifically to provide a supportive, fair, and stimulating environment at all stages of their careers. On June 23, 2025, FNKV sent a letter of intent to the European Commission declaring its commitment, thereby initiating the process to obtain the HR Excellence in Research Award (HR Award).
Why the project was created
KVUH is not only a leading healthcare facility but also a major center for clinical research, where new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are implemented and where there is close collaboration with academic institutions and the private sector. Research here spans various fields of medicine, and as a research organization, KVUH was officially registered in the Research Organization Register in 2018. However, further development faces several obstacles:
• the lack of a comprehensive research management strategy,
• ack of training programs for researchers,
• the need to improve working conditions and collaboration,
• low level of participation in international projects.
Main objectives of the project
The ROSE project will foster an environment in which researchers can work effectively, expand their knowledge, and establish collaborations at both the national and international levels.
What the project will bring
The ROSE project offers new opportunities to researchers at the KVUH – improved working conditions, strengthened national and international collaboration, and faster translation of scientific findings into practice. This initiative represents an important step toward making the Královské Vinohrady University Hospital, as a research organization, an even more significant center of science and innovation—a place where modern research intersects with everyday clinical practice and delivers higher-quality care to patients.
The project focuses on seven key areas:
Establishing a strategic management framework for a research organization in accordance with the criteria for receiving the “HR Award”
The implementation of modern management processes and standards that will bring FNKV up to the highest European standards; winning the prestigious “HR Award.”
