Břetislav Lipový is a Professor of Surgery specializing in burn medicine and reconstructive surgery. He currently works at the Department of Burn Medicine, Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and University Hospital Královské Vinohrady in Prague. His clinical expertise includes the management of severe burns, complex wounds and soft-tissue defects, limb salvage, and reconstructive surgery.

He is the principal investigator of several research projects and serves as a member of the Research Committees of both the European Burns Association (EBA) and the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI).

He has extensive international and humanitarian experience, including repeated Czech MEDEVAC missions in Ukraine focused on the treatment and reconstruction of complex war-related injuries, as well as medical and surgical missions in Iraq and Ethiopia. Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in translational research focused on tissue regeneration, biomaterials, advanced wound healing, antimicrobial strategies, and experimental models of severe infections and acute lung injury.

He has led and participated in several nationally funded research projects, including the development of advanced biomimetic skin substitutes and experimental approaches to tissue regeneration. His research combines in vitro studies with clinically relevant large-animal models, particularly porcine models of wound infection, skin regeneration, and tissue reconstruction.
