What is the HR Excellence in Research Award and the HRS4R Human Resources Strategy
The HR Excellence in Research Award is granted by the European Commission to research institutions that implement a human resources strategy in accordance with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers. These principles form the basis for the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
Through the HRS4R strategy, institutions create a work environment and organizational culture that supports the development of the European Research Area (ERA). This strategy plays a key role in the career development of researchers while also contributing to the implementation of transparent, fair, and ethical practices in recruitment, professional growth, and the support of researchers.
HRS4R represents a structured and monitored audit mechanism based on regular evaluations in three-year cycles. This process defines clear standards that researchers can expect from their institution, while also enabling institutions to continuously improve their human resources policies.
